Song recommendations for this week.
Matthew Thiessen & The Earthquakes - “Man of Stone” [Folk]
Lucas Davies - “Little Things” [Pop]
Beach Tiger - “Dead of Night” [Alternative]
Young Mister - “Everything Has its Place” [Folk]
In case you were curious, that is the same Matthew Thiessen of Relient K. While Beach Tiger may be labeled alternative, it could also be described as a smooth and gritty pop.
Artist spotlight - Joan
With the band’s first official release coming this summer, Joan is a worthy electronic pop addition to your musical library. The six song EP circles a lust for radio stardom with plenty of songs that work their hooks deep in your brain. This music isn’t really new though, there’s a familiar formula throughout, with soft and 80’s-esque verses and booming energetic choruses. The band just does this type of music really well.

Here’s one last summer inspired playlist for 2018 before Labor Day. There are a lot of songs that could make for a good listen next to the pool, be it high energy ones or some classical guitar. The commonality of these songs I picked is that they are all “smooth” or “shimmering” in someway—make of that what you will.
